Overview

This programme seeks to bridge the established traditions of 20th century media with the emerging and innovative practices of the 21st century. Learners will be exposed to a range of communicative and creative practices within media that are being shaped by digital communications and technological change.

In addition to technical and creative skills, the learner will develop problem solving and critical thinking skills which are essential for success in the 21st century media landscape. This programme provides a foundation in media and communications as an academic field and as a set of industries and will prepare learners for entry-level positions in areas such as computer applications, journalism, graphic design and digital art.

Entry Requirements

  1. In addition to the general entry requirements for SALCC, CSEC passes (Grades I, II or III) in the following subjects;
    • Information Technology;
    • English B (Literature) would be an asset.
  2. Students can also gain entry through the presentation of a digital media portfolio or action reel. An interview is required.
