The Sir Arthur Lewis Community College is part of a contingent from St. Lucia participating in a Community College Administrator Programme in Florida from 18th October to 12th November 2021.
The Programme was organized by the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the United States Department and is being implemented by Florida State University in partnership with Santa Fe College.
The College is represented by;
- Dr. Keith Nurse – Principal/President;
- Ms. Celeste Regis – Quality Assurance Officer, and;
- Mr. Brent St. Catherine – Head of the Innovation Hub and Gateways Programme.
Other members of the Saint Lucian team include representatives from the Ministry of Education, Sustainable Development, Innovation, Science, Technology and Vocation Training, namely:
- Ms. Michelle Charles – Permanent Secretary, Department of Education, Innovation and Gender Relations;
- Ms. Sharon Persad – Principal, Ministry of Education Post-Secondary Programme, and;
- Ms. Lydia Charlemagne – Student Affairs Coordinator, Vieux Fort Comprehensive Secondary School.
Grenada and Suriname were also invited to participate in this Programme which focuses on expanding access to higher education opportunities through technical and vocational education programmes that are responsive to local workforce and community needs. The Caribbean Administrators will benefit from a comprehensive exploration of the U.S. community college model. The hope is that lessons learned will be applied to the education context in their home country.
