As part of its 2026/2027 application period, the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College launched its own AI chatbot assistant, Arthur.
“Today, our launch signals an important step forward in how we support you [and] how engage you,” said Nathalie Jolie-Fanis, Director of SALCC's Marketing and Communications Department, to a visiting Form 5 group from the Ciceron Secondary School.
Arthur, named after the College's namesake, was designed to provide the public with fast and accurate information about SALCC and its services. Hunter Gaillard, developer of the chatbot and SALCC alumnus, explained the value of the chatbot as a communication tool.
The [College] is constantly bombarded with messages from students and parents alike. The problem isn't that the school doesn't have the information, the problem is that the information isn't easily accessible and doesn't feel instant. At least that used to be the problem.
— Hunter Gaillard
Arthur is designed based on the same technologies used by artificial intelligence companies like OpenAI. It was trained using information from the College's website, as well as hundreds of frequently asked questions.
So with SALCC applications opened from February 9 to April 30, 2026, prospective students now have another powerful tool to help them make informed decisions on the programmes they wish to pursue at the College.
