SALCC Hosts Delegation from the France-Caribbean Friendship Group

On Monday February 24, The Sir Arthur Lewis Community College warmly welcomed the delegation of the France-Caribbean Friendship Group from the French Senate. The visit provided an invaluable opportunity to strengthen ties between France and the Caribbean region.

The France-Caribbean Interparliamentary Friendship Group comprises 15 French senators from various political backgrounds. Their mission is to enhance France's relationships with Caribbean nations through key initiatives in:

  • Strengthening parliamentary relations
  • Promoting cooperation in health, education, the environment, and economic development
  • Supporting cultural and linguistic exchanges

The French Senate maintains several interparliamentary friendship groups, including:

  • France-Central America and Caribbean Group
  • France-West Africa Group
  • France-Pacific Group

These groups share a common goal of fostering international cooperation and parliamentary dialogue across different regions.

The visiting delegation included:

  • Mrs. Hélène Conway-Mouret — Senator, President of the Group
  • Mr. André Reichardt — Senator
  • Mrs. Catherine Conconne — Senator
  • Mr. Edouard Courtlal — Senator
  • Mrs. Charlotte Dammane — Executive Secretary
