SALCC Hosts Delegation from the France-Caribbean Friendship Group
On Monday February 24, The Sir Arthur Lewis Community College warmly welcomed the delegation of the France-Caribbean Friendship Group from the French Senate. The visit provided an invaluable opportunity to strengthen ties between France and the Caribbean region.
The France-Caribbean Interparliamentary Friendship Group comprises 15 French senators from various political backgrounds. Their mission is to enhance France's relationships with Caribbean nations through key initiatives in:
- Strengthening parliamentary relations
- Promoting cooperation in health, education, the environment, and economic development
- Supporting cultural and linguistic exchanges
The French Senate maintains several interparliamentary friendship groups, including:
- France-Central America and Caribbean Group
- France-West Africa Group
- France-Pacific Group
These groups share a common goal of fostering international cooperation and parliamentary dialogue across different regions.
The visiting delegation included:
- Mrs. Hélène Conway-Mouret — Senator, President of the Group
- Mr. André Reichardt — Senator
- Mrs. Catherine Conconne — Senator
- Mr. Edouard Courtlal — Senator
- Mrs. Charlotte Dammane — Executive Secretary
