The NDC-TEC Project officially presented a set of specialized technical tools and an electric vehicle to the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (SALCC) during a formal handover ceremony held on May 4, 2026.

The initiative, funded by the International Climate Initiative (IKI) and implemented by the GIZ in partnership with the Government of Saint Lucia, aims to bridge the gap between classroom theory and industry-standard practice.

Development of skills, both for young people as well as for the existing workforce is an essential part of any transition; whether to introduce solar energy or electric vehicles.

The electric vehicle, a Farzion Supervan L3H3 Bus, is 100% electric, equipped with advanced safety features and comfortable driving. It joins SALCC’s retrofitted electric bus, forming the College’s own small but growing ”green fleet” of EVs. The equipment includes an electric vehicle tool set, auto & manual ranging Industrial digital multimeter, hard hats with arc flash face shields, insulating rubber gloves, and a fire blanket.

SALCC Principal Dr. Madgerie Jameson-Charles thanked the NDC-TEC for their generous donation, highlighting how the contribution aligns with SALCC strategic vision.

After the ceremony, students got the opportunity to enjoy a test drive around campus in the Farzion bus.
