A Platform for Literary Excellence
The book fair celebrates Saint Lucia's rich literary heritage, including the works of our two Nobel Laureates, Sir Derek Walcott and Sir Arthur Lewis. This event aims to inspire future generations of writers and thinkers while promoting literary appreciation within and beyond our shores.
We are excited to create this unique opportunity for Saint Lucian authors, young and old, from the island and the diaspora. This literary festival will connect authors, readers, and businesses, creating a vibrant space for literary and cultural exchange, something not seen before on the island.

Launch of Voices in Verse
Our library is also proud to release its first publication An Anthology of Spoken Word Poetry, produced by SALCC students over the past three (3) years as part of the annual WORRRD Up poetry slam.
This anthology of Poems Written and Performed by Students of the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College (2022-2023) is a powerful collection showcasing the creative expressions of young poets who participated in the College's Annual WORRRD Up Poetry Slam. This inaugural publication by the Hunter J. François Library celebrates the voices of emerging writers, highlighting their passion, depth, and courage as they explore themes of identity, community, and personal growth.
The anthology not only preserves these impactful works but also reflects the Library's commitment to fostering literacy, creative expression, and intellectual development. Each poem represents a unique voice, reminding readers of the power of words to inspire, challenge, and connect.
The collection will be officially unveiled at the Writers in the Spotlight event during the 2025 Nobel Laureate Festival, where the young poets’ achievements will be celebrated, and each contributing student will receive a personal copy of the anthology. We are grateful to the Youth Economy Agency for sponsoring the first batch of 100 books.
