Defensive Driving is an interactive online course, accessible to all persons with a Provisional Driver's License. A registration fee of EC$150.00 is required.

Defensive Driving is offered by SALCC in collaboration with the Transport Department of the Ministry of Economic Development, Housing, Urban Renewal, Transport and Civil Aviation.

This registration form is for persons paying at Bank of Saint Lucia (Account #904120789) or SALCC's Finance Department.
If you wish to pay online, register via our ePayment Platform.

Please note:

  • A total payment of EC$150.00 is required.
  • Incomplete registration forms will not be processed.
  • Your name must be written exactly how you would like it printed on your certificate.
  • Individuals are not allowed into any class after the first fifteen (15) minutes.
  • A penality fee of $25.00 will be charged if you do not participate in the course within three (3) months of registering.

Can a driver's license be renewed before its expiry date?
/ How much does a Driver's License renewal cost?

Your driver's license can be renewed 90 days prior to its expiration. The renewal feee depends on how long you want it for;

  • 1 year — $150
  • 2 years — $250
  • 3 years — $300

Should the Defensive Driving certificate be printed to present at the Transport Board when renewing one's driver's license?

No, not necessarily. It can be sent to their email address.

Can someone collect my driver's license on my behalf?

Yes, but with an authorized letter and photo ID attached.

Can I resume my driver's license while abroad?

Yes, the online platform can be used.

How long does it take to get the physical copy of my driver's license?

It depends on how the printer works — it can be 1 to 2 weeks, give or take.

What are the requirements for an international driver's license?

The individual must have a valid Saint Lucian driver's license (not a provisional card), and two (2) passport sized photos. The cost is $40.

How do I register for a Defensive Driving course?

Registration costs $150 and is done through SALCC's website or in-person at the College's Morne Campus.

How many sessions do I have to attend in order to complete the Defensive Driving course?
/ How are the sessions delivered?

Sessions are held online via Zoom, and you must attend two in order to complete the course and receive your certificate.

How do I receive my certificate from completing Defensive Driving?

After finishing the course, your certificate will be sent to you via email (the same email address you provided when registering).

Do I have to redo the Defenesive Driving course every time I renew my driver's license?
/ Does the Defensive Driving certificate expire?

No, the course only has to be done once and your certificate will always remain valid.

Can I register for Defensive Driving with an expired driver's license?

Yes, you can.

How soon can I register for Defensive Driving after receiving my driver's license?

You can register as soon as you have your driver's license.

Can I use an email address that someone had previously used to receive their Defensive Driving certificate?

No, a certificate cannot be sent to an email address that has already been used to receive one.
