Defensive Driving
Defensive Driving is an interactive, eight-hour course that is delivered 100% online and synchronously. The course is accessible to all persons who currently possess a Provisional Driver’s License.
About General Nursing
The Bachelors Degree in General Nursing combines coursework on-campus with guided clinical experiences in various health care agencies.
Upon successful completion of this programme, graduates will be able to facilitate the provision and management of effective nursing care to their communities, as well as function competently within a variety of health care settings.
Graduates are also eligible to take licensing exams for entry into professional nursing practice, both locally and abroad.
Learning Outcomes
- Students learn to apply the principles of physical, biological, behavioural, and social sciences to provide an effective level of care to their clients.
- Practitioners leverage professional nursing standards by practicing within the legal, ethical, economical and regulatory framework of nursing and healthcare.

- The nursing process, critical thinking and technical skills will be used by students to provide a holistic and exemplary level of service to their clients.
- Students will sharpen their skills in effective communication and interpersonal interactions, as these are essential to building open and caring relationships with clients.
- Practitioners employ the processes of teaching and counselling to promote self-care and optimal health.
- Apply the principles of leadership and management to promote cost effective and improved health care outcomes in collaboration with members of the health team.
- Students will participate in and utilize research findings to further enhance their nursing practice.

- Five CSEC Subjects Grades 1, 2 or 3 after June 1998 or Grades 1 or 2 before June 1998 including three compulsory subjects: English, Mathematics and one Science subject (Biology or Chemistry preferred).
- GCE in any of the subjects at Grade A, B or C. GCE Human and Social Biology will be accepted.
- Minimum age requirement: 18 years at the end of the first year of studies.
- An Entrance Examination would be conducted prior to interview of applicants.
- Interview: conducted for applicants who meet the academic requirements. Applicants are expected to display a keen interest in the programme and possess rudimentary knowledge of the field. An age related level of maturity and basic professionalism should be displayed.
- Associate Degree to Bachelor of Science in Nursing: Admission into the programme will be successful completion of a 3-year Associate Degree programme over the last 5 years or Registered Nurse (RN) in active practice with successful completion over 5 years.
