  • SALCC Hosts University of Guyana On Campus

    On Friday November 17, SALCC had the pleasure of hosting a contingent of 26 staff members and students from the University of Guyana's International Relations Programme.

    They received a tour of the campus, attended an academic lecture, and dined in for lunch at The College's Le Forte Restaurant.

    The visit was organized by the College's Academic Partnerships and Internalisation Unit.

  • Export Saint Lucia to boost Agricultural Exports

    Export Saint Lucia partners with the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, among other entities, to launch The Pack House Project. The initiative seeks to strengthen agricultural stakeholders\' capacity in supplying quality products to new markets.

    The College's role involves facilitating online training in Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP). SALCC's Principal, Dr. Madgerie Jameson- Charles, signed a contract on the College's behalf.

  • SALCC Recognizes Student, Ms. Renee Smith

    Renee Smith has placed second in the 2023 ECCB/RSS-ARU Creative Youth Songwriting Competition (Age 17-18 Category).

    Renee will be awarded a student grant of EC$2,500.00, and SALCC will receive a development grant of EC$1500.00.

    The competition was hosted and sponsored by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank (ECCB) and the Regional Security System Asset Recovery Unit (RSS-ARU).

  • Hunter J. François Library Hosts AUTHOR TALKS Series

    In celebration of Saint Lucia's 44th Anniversary of Independence, three local authors participated in the first installment of HJFL's Author Talks Series. This lineup consisted of Mr. Kendel Hippolyte, Mr. Mc.Donald Dixon and Ms. Dawn French.

    The initiative received the support from SALCC's lecturers; Ms. Gloria Severin, Content Specialist in Literature as well as Mrs. Diane Montrope, History lecturer, who have collaborated with the library to ensure that SALCC students derive the full benefits of this activity.

    AUTHOR TALKS is one of the Hunter J. François Library's newest initiatives, aimed at connecting aspects of the curriculum with the works of local authors. The initiative also seeks to make relevant connections to the information resources and collections housed at both the Derek Walcott Library and Hunter J. François Library.

  • HJFL's Christmas Good Turn

    The Hunter J. François Library conducted a community outreach activity on Wednesday December 7, 2022 in District 4.

    Students from the Millet, Anse la Raye and Roseau Primary Schools were treated to a Christmas story reading and literacy activity, colouring card activity and a lucky dip for boys and girls. One child in need, selected by each principal was also presented with a goodwill hamper for his/her family.

  • SALCC Explores Opportunities for Collaboration with India

    H.E. Mr. Shankar Balachandran, High Commissioner of the Republic of India to Saint Lucia, paid a visit to the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College on Tuesday, July 12, 2022.

    This provided College officials with the opportunity to explore avenues for collaboration, opportunities for study in India as well as exchanges with staff and students.

  • French Gateways Participants Visit Fond Doux

    On 25 March 2022, participants of the French Gateways to Global Careers programme visited the Fond Doux Holiday Plantation and the Stonefield Villa Resort in Soufriere.

    The group was exposed to aspects of the tourism and hospitality sector as well as the agro processing and food creation sectors, all integral to their areas of specialization.

    Participants toured the two properties and received demonstrations on cocoa-processing and chocolate-making at the Fond Doux Holiday Plantation.

  • Beach Cleanup By Circle K Club

    On Saturday June 26, 2021, The College's Circle K Club took the initiative of restoring two of our island's beaches. The two groups — northern and southern — cleaned up Vigie Beach and Sandy Beach respectively, playing their part in saving the environment.

  • St. Lucia Collection Grows at HJFL

    The Sir Arthur Lewis Community College congratulates local author, Dr Travis Weekes on the Publication of his book which features two plays - The Fight for Belle Vue and Field of Power.

    The Hunter J. François Library (HJFL) received a kind donation of five copies from Dr Venus Cherry (RISE St. Lucia Inc.) and Dr Travis Weekes (author). The College is pleased to have yet another addition to the HJFL's Special Collection of St. Lucian Publications.

    The St. Lucia Collection of the Hunter J. François Library features the publications of St. Lucian authors, as well as works written on and about St. Lucia. The growing collection is accessible via the Library's online public access catalogue.
