Mary joined WORRRD Up because of her love for poetry and the arts.
She hears a small whisper,
Shush, Silent
It speaks to her again,
Pleading for a listening ear
Wait, one voice, then another
Which voice will she obey? Hummm
The first voice reemerges
Like a warm breeze,
Caressing her gently on her cheeks
And calls to her attention
It speaks - gently, steady, sure.
That still voice gives her direction,
And as her synapses begins to connect,
Another voice redirects,
But this one says something different,
An internal, eternal conflict,
What is she meant to do, hummm.
‘ Listen to me’, - ‘ nah do this instead’,
A clash of voices and demands,
Each with their own implications,
She knows - that following the second voice,
Could only lead to a dangerous deception
‘Please listen to me’, ‘ no this is better’
Confusion, confusion, confusion
Which wish is she meant to fulfill?,
Surely the second voice is right, right?
This must be it, surely
She obeys the second voice,
Angel and demon warring for her soul
Oh no, on my, she did it again
Anger! Anger! Anger!
If only.., if only.., if only
Things had been different
This wouldn't have happened
If only,
She had listened to the first voice,
It would have ended better
Disappointment ! Disappointment! Disappointment!
Oh Lord!
This could have been better
This should have been better,
How many should haves and could haves,
Must be repeated again?
Sigh………………………..
The battle within
Will she ever get it right?
Silent screams, silent dreams,
Tears of disappointment,
Tears of unworthiness
Sigh, will she ever do it right?
Judgement, judgement, judgement!!!
Will she ever be obedient
To the still but Powerful voice?
What will she do?
What will she do?..... Hummm
Defeated and angry
Swamped in the feeling of despair
She wails.
Battles, battles, battles!!!
Silent fears, burst of tears
Now she is thinking;
If only, if only, if only..
But ‘ if ‘ is too late
She wants to fight back ,
But how?
Shush
Wait, she hears something
It is not too late
It is not too late
‘You can do this.’
‘You are not a failure.’
‘Listen dear’
‘You are not a failure’
‘There is power within you’
Power, power, power
She is down on her knees again
The one thing she knows how to do
Asking Him to help her
Be obedient to His voice
To that still, small
But precious voice
One thing she knows,
There is a soft voice
Which speaks to
Each of us,
Even at her lowest, she holds on
Faith,... faith,... faith…..
Faith awakens
A little is enough
She welcomes faith as a friend
Faith whispers to her,
Hush, do you hear?
Faith is speaking
And she listens.
Faith breathes.
