Zakiya Griot’ Gill Bio
Zakiya Griot’ Gill, is a renowned poet and educator from Guayaguayare Village, Trinidad, has garnered international acclaim for her innovative use of spoken word as a means to entertain, educate, and inspire change.
Recently honored with a national youth award for her contributions to Arts and Culture in Trinidad and Tobago, Ms. Gill is dedicated to utilizing the arts, particularly spoken word, to address issues like gender-based violence. As the Project Coordinator and tutor for Project Elevation Spoken Word Workshop and Mentorship Programme, she actively pursues her aspiration to educate children and youth.
Ms. Gill, staying true to her passion for spoken word, has collaborated with notable artists and showcased her talent at events like the St Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival and Art In the City - poetry night in 2023.
