Alvinus Melius

Alvinus Melius is a dynamic Caribbean poet from Saint Lucia who draws inspiration from interactions with celebrated Saint Lucian and Caribbean artists. His passion for both poetry and technology breathes life into his work, with his first published piece, “My Trip to Mars,” showcasing this unique blend. Winning multiple national awards for his poetry, from 1998 to 2000 in the then M&C Fine Arts Awards, Melius solidified his reputation as a creative force.

In addition to Poetry, he explores visual arts and music and has written a number of calypsos and other songs. His debut poetry collection, “Awaiting Place”, bursts with themes of vibrant Caribbean life, family, and human resilience.

Beyond the literary world, Melius is captivated by the potential of machine learning and artificial intelligence, to tackle complex problems. He holds a Masters Degree in Big Data Technologies from East London University (UK) and is currently pursuing a PhD in Information Technology, researching applications of Artificial Intelligence.
