Accommodations and Hospitality is suited for persons interested in careers within hotel and hospitality settings.

Students are exposed to the different avenues of the hospitality industry, such as front-desk work, housekeeping, and restaurant service. Learners are equipped with the skills and etiquette to deliver a high standard of service that satisfies the demands of the ever-competitive hospitality sector.

Learning Outcomes

  • Students will demonstrate a keen understanding of the hospitality sector, with emphasis placed on current trends and key players.
  • Practitioners develop exceptional customer service skills, with emphasis placed on effective communication, conflict resolution and problem solving.
  • Students acquire knowledge of essential management principles which are necessary to the hospitality industry. These include leadership skills, team work and team building, and organizational skills.
  • Learners become acquainted with key skills related to the planning, preparation and management of various event settings, such as weddings, ceremonies, and corporate functions.
  • Students take into account the ethics and legality affiliated with the hospitality sector. Potential issues under this umbrella may pertain to guest privacy and safety, as well as compliance with rules and regulations.

  1. Required passes (Grades 1, 2; or Grade 3 from June 1998) in English A, Mathematics, French OR Spanish and Food & Nutrition OR Social Studies and at least ONE of the following:
    • Chemistry
    • Economics
    • Principles of Accounts
    • Principles of Business
  2. In addition, all candidates who have not passed CSEC French or Spanish will be required to register for and successfully complete an access course in the subject area prior to registration.
