Overview

The Pathways to Medicine programme supports the aspirations of learners who wish to move into health-related careers. This programme allows learners to first be eligible for one of the Science based Certificates and by completing additional courses cover the subject requirements for entry into health related programmes.

This is a two-tiered Certification pathway. Learners are expected to enrol in one of the Science Certificates. In order to qualify for a Pathways to Medicine Certificate they will take additional courses.

These courses can be taken within the associated degree as programme, general education and electives or complete additional courses during the summer semesters. Depending on the focus of the learners this may take anywhere from two (2) years to two and a half (2 ½) years.

Learning Outcomes

Following completion of this programme, participants will be able to;

  • Widen access to the Science requirements for learners interested in health-related careers;
  • Expose learners to the requirements for careers and paths to schools of the health professions;
  • Provide a bridge into health related programmes;

Entry Requirements

College entry requirements, as well as minimum of CSEC Grade III (or equivalent) in Biology, Physics and Chemistry.

Programme Summary

  • This programme runs for two years and consists of four (4) semesters.
  • Each year consists of two (2) semesters.
  • Note that this must be done along with an Certificate in Science.
