Overview

In this programme learners will be exposed to the skills needed to build interactive and responsive user experiences on the Web. The programme is intended to deepen knowledge of the key languages that support the Web: HTML5, CSS and JavaScript.

The programme provides knowledge and skills required for developing effective websites. It covers basic terminologies, tools, HTML5, Cascading Style Sheet (CSS) and the basics of JavaScript.

This programme also explores Client/Server Architecture, and different Server-Side scripting Languages, specifically PHP, MySQL and Node.js to develop database driven web applications. Additionally, learners will be introduced to the Mobile app environment, practices, tools and techniques. Learners will explore the standards and trends of the industry, along with industry standard tools for mobile development.

Entry Requirements

  1. See General Entry Requirements for SALCC;
  2. CSEC passes (Grades I, II or III) in one or all of the following subjects;
    • Information Technology or EDPM
    • English Literature
    • Principles of Business
    • Visual Arts
  3. Students can also gain entry through the presentation of a digital media portfolio or action reel. An interview is required.
