Carpentry and Joinery Foundations

The aim of this Carpentry and Joinery Foundations Programme is to provide persons with the knowledge and understanding required to become competent craftsmen/women. The programme is also designed to offer persons the opportunity to develop constructional techniques and skills which will make them marketable in the construction industry.

The programme is of one year duration. Upon successful completion, students will be given a Carpentry and Joinery Foundations Certificate. Students will also be able to pursue the Carpentry and Joinery Part 2 Craft Certificate, and the City and Guilds of London Institute Craft Certificate.

Programme Learning Outcomes

On completion of this programme learners will be able to:

  1. Serve as credentials in their own right for entry into certain vocations, occupations and professions.
  2. Provide articulation and portability with other College programmes/ post-secondary programmes regionally and internationally.
  3. Provide increased access to higher education.
  4. Facilitate a reasonable contribution to national and regional development.
