Free from the burden of school,
I retreat to my home refuge.
Worn out from weekly toil, I decompress.
With no work due,
Surely I'm deserving
Of some playful rest.

Settled, like a frog in a nook
I man my desk,
Devoid of the plagues of my educational prison.
Testing my luck I text my friends.
To my delight, some are willing to chat-
Well into the night.

A light drumming rain
A welcome surprise,
My room dims,
A cooling breeze brushes my skin.
A serendipitous fate.

This bliss I feel,
Like an infant being cradled by their mother.
The mood set for a serene period.
I hope this lasts.

Hours fly by, the environment is still.
Chilling with my buddies,
Discussing this and that.
The week's work was taxing
But this child-like calmness and joy I feel
Soothes my mind.

The cool sheets,
The softness of my pillows
Beckon me.
A call hard to resist.
Bidding goodnight to my friends,
I answer the call.
Content with my night I drift off.
No time wasted,
I enjoyed every moment.
